Hartwood Acres

Last week's theme at VoaT was Autumn. I decided to visit Hartwood Acres for an hour or so before sundown to see what I could get and came away with these shots of the mansion and stables. Mr. Chippy, Preparing for Winter

This little guy has a bunch of burrows around our house. Literally. This one is under the sidewalk by our front porch. There's one under the office window, a few around the deck, some under the driveway, and some in the side yard in a rock bed. I watched him stuffing his cheeks with nuts from the sidewalk burrow, and then scampering off to one of his other burrows and returning empty cheeked. Apparently he's distributing his food supply amongst his various homes in preparation for winter. He's a cute little guy, even if he does chew up my flowers in the warm seasons. :-\ I guess he can stay.

Succop Conservancy

I hesitate to post anything about Succop because it's such a peaceful little place and seems to be a well-kept secret. Part of me wants to keep it that way! On the other hand, it's so beautiful that I want others to experience it for themselves. I recently visited the Conservancy to shoot for our "outside" theme at Variations on a Theme. Fortunately for me, the rain held off while I was there and some blue sky even appeared for a few moments! Below are some of my favorite shots from the outing.
